Description
: You are looking at a beautiful trinket dish by Villeroy & Boch in the pattern "Design 1900".  This pattern showcases the work of French designer and painter Victor Lhuer.  This particular box is No. 4 Demi-Deuil which translates to "half mourning".  Half mourning dresses were worn by women after the first year of full mourning when their spouses died.  Full mourning attire required wearing all black clothing with little to no decoration.  Half mourning clothing allowed the reintroduction of color to the mourning woman's dress. This pattern by Villeroy & Boch was produced between
1980 - 1990 and has since been discontinued.  This box would make a great gift for a Villeroy & Boch collector or for someone with an interest in fashion and/or mourning traditions.
Condition
: This box is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. It does have very minor surface scratches on the lid but no more than you would expect based on its age.
Size
: This box has a diameter of 4 1/8 inches across the lid.  The box itself has a diameter of 3 13/16.  The box is about 2 inches tall.
Shipping and Handling
: Shipping will be by USPS First Class Mail. I carefully wrap any breakable items and ship all items in plenty of packing material (packing peanuts for breakable items and tissue/newspaper for unbreakable items). If you want any special packaging (for example double boxing an item or combine shipping) I am happy to do so, but please email me and let me know. I will repackage items and invoice for the item as well as any additional shipping costs based on any change in the weight of your item. I determine shipping costs based on the postage calculator tool on eBay and only round up slightly (usually less than a dollar) to cover eBay shipping fees.
