e Antique Steel Automobile Oil Bottle Carrier/Holder, RARE 6 BOTTLE SIZE
Unusual Condition, Without Rust
DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....Scarce, antique steel oil bottle carrier, similar in function to a milk bottle holder used by milkmen in the old days, but different in style, size, and age. This was used with early automobiles in early garages to hold and dispense individual quart oil bottles during oil changes and addition. This has partitions to hold 6 oil bottles. Carriers holding only 6 bottles are very uncommon.
Made of heavy, strong steel wire, about 3/16" diameter. Typically, oil was purchased by service stations in large cans or drums, then transferred as needed to the individual, reusable glass bottles, and kept ready for use in pouring into individual cars. This carrier/holder was used to hold them at the ready and facilitated bringing them to a car for use. It is in excellent condition, the nicest one I have ever seen.  VIRTUALLY NO RUST ON IT COMPARED TO MOST. IT IS OVERALL ONE OF THE NICEST ANTIQUE OIL BOTTLE CARRIERS I HAVE SEEN. Would look great wherever you would choose to display it.
THIS IS A GREAT ITEM FOR DISPLAY BY ANY ANTIQUE AUTO COLLECTOR, WHETHER IN A FAMILY ROOM, GARAGE, OR WITH THE ANTIQUE CAR ITSELF. EITHER IN THE GARAGE OR IT COULD BE DISPLAYED WITH THE CAR AT CAR SHOWS AND DISPLAYS FOR THE FULL VINTAGE LOOK!!! And this is a particularly nice carrier, given the rarity of the large 6-bottle size.
It would make a great gift or a nice display item for the discerning collector, and obviously a cool accessory to go with your antique car!! YOU WILL NOT FIND MANY OF THESE FOR SALE, FEW 6-SIZE, AND PROBABLY NOT ANOTHER ONE IN SUCH NICE ORIGINAL CONDITION.
Stands about 14" tall overall and is 9 1/4" x 13 3/4" at the base. This is an extremely difficult to find antique auto or service station accessory, in very nice used condition..
