Black Opal is the most valued of opals.
This item comes from Lightning Ridge area.  It is high quality stone and very rare.
This opal shows the distinct play of color of blues, reds and greens.  All strong and vivid.
Because of its relative scarcity compared to light opal, it tends to be more valued.
I purchased this opal in 1980's in Cairns, Queensland on a Great Barrier Reef expedition.
