Very interesting small conical container with handle and a spout. I am honestly not sure what it was used to dispense. It could have been for cream but being that is is made out of tin and soldered I doubt that. It's so small it probably holds less than a pint of oil and it isn't covered so I'm not so sure about that either. If anyone out there has some information please come to my rescue! The brass label that is soldered on the front of the can is marked: "CRESCO C.S. Co 1891 91 E. KINZIE ST" So I'm thinking that I found this over in Missouri when I lived there in the 90's and there is a Cresco Iowa. But I also found a Creso Pennslyvania and I also spent a brief time over in that area. I believe that both towns were founded before 1891 so it is a toss up!
The tin is in amazing condition, some slight flash rust in the bottom but overall in really good condition. All of the joints, the handle, and label are soldered on, very nice craftsmanship.
This is definately a one-off piece that has a tremendous amount of character as well as a good dollop of gravitas!
